Regent Tour Itinerary

Join Regent on a unique small group walking tour, with a backdrop of the glorious Annapurna Mountain Range.

Day 1 – Departure From Manchester Airport

Meet your travelling companions today as we fly from Manchester Airport ,via Doha, on this small group tour.

Day 2 – Kathmandu, Nepal

Arriving late morning in vibrant Kathmandu, Nepal’s fascinating capital, we transfer to the 5-star Soaltee Hotel for a three-night stay. Set within 12 acres of landscaped gardens and opened in 1966, this landmark hotel offers a peaceful retreat in the Tahachal area. Enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure. (D)

Day 3 – Free Time In Kathmandu, Nepal

Welcome to Kathmandu. This morning, enjoy a sightseeing tour of Nepal’s vibrant capital, visiting the impressive Swayambhunath Stupa and UNESCO-listed Durbar Square, home to the temples of Kastha Mandap and Kumari Devi. This afternoon, explore the ancient city of Patan and browse the local Tibetan handicraft market. (B,D)

Day 4 – Guided Tour Of Kathmandu, Nepal

Enjoy another day of sightseeing with a visit to Bhaktapur (formerly Bhadgaon), the ancient Newari city known as the ‘Place of Devotees’. Explore its rich heritage before visiting the magnificent Boudhanath Stupa and sacred Pashupatinath Temple. The evening is at leisure to relax or explore independently. (B,D)

Day 5 – Kathmandu Valley for Pokhara

We depart Kathmandu Valley for Pokhara this morning, a scenic journey of approximately 6 hours. Set on the shores of Lake Phewa at around 1,000 metres above sea level, Pokhara offers a more relaxed atmosphere and magnificent views of the Annapurna Range, including Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Mountain). Overnight at the 4-star Hotel Barahi, Pokhara. (B,D)

Day 6 – Walk From Ghattekhola To Dhampus

Meet our local guide this morning for a briefing before a short drive to Ghattekhola, the start of today’s walk. We trek to Dhampus Lodge at 1,525m, enjoying superb views of the Annapurna Range and Machapuchare (Fishtail Mountain). This mountainside retreat offers comfortable accommodation, a landscaped terrace, sunset drinks and dinner. (B,L,D)

Day 7 – Pothana village To Majgaon Lodge

We set off from Dhampus Lodge and walk through Pothana, a former Tibetan settlement, following scenic ridges and forest trails towards Majgaon (approx. 1,400m). Passing rhododendron forests, magnolia trees and traditional Gurung villages, we gain insight into local life while enjoying panoramic mountain views. Overnight at the charming Majgaon Lodge. Day 8 – Majgaon Lodge To Landruk

We leave Majgaon this morning and trek through traditional villages and farmland to the picturesque village of Landruk. Along the way, enjoy views of the surrounding countryside and gain further insight into local rural life. Tonight, we stay at the welcoming Landruk Lodge. (B,L,D)

Day 9 – Landruk To Ghandruk

It takes around 3 to 4 hours to trek from Landruk to Ghandruk, a region famed for its traditional honey hunters. Crossing a suspension bridge over the Modi River, we follow scenic trails and stone steps to Ghandruk, where we stay overnight at the welcoming Ghandruk Lodge. (B,L,D)

Day 10 – Ghandruk Lodge To Birethanti Lodge

We leave our lodge and hike through scenic terraced hills to Syauli Bazaar, before following the river path to Birethanti. Along the way, enjoy superb views of valleys, forests and traditional terrace farms. Our day concludes at the welcoming Birethanti Lodge for an overnight stay. (B,L,D)

Day 11 – Short Trek To Nayapol

After breakfast, enjoy a short 90-minute trek to Nayapol, descending through wooded hillsides and terraced farmland to the valley floor. We then transfer by vehicle to Pokhara (approximately 40 minutes) and return to the 4-star Hotel Barahi for a two-night stay. The remainder of the day is at leisure. (B,D)

Day 12 – Full Day Tour Of Pokhara

Enjoy a full-day tour of Pokhara. Visit the Gurkha Museum to learn about the history of the renowned Nepali soldiers through photographs, uniforms, letters and Victoria Cross medals. Continue to the Tashiling Tibetan Refugee Camp, Davi’s Fall and Jangchub Choeling Monastery, gaining insight into the region’s culture and heritage. (B,D)

Day 13 – Pokhara To Kathmandu

We drive back to Kathmandu this morning, a journey of approximately 6 hours, and return to the 5-star Soaltee Hotel for an overnight stay. The afternoon is at leisure to relax or explore independently before we enjoy a group dinner at a traditional local restaurant, offering an authentic taste of Nepal. (B,D)

Day 14 – Return Flight To Manchester

After breakfast we transfer to Kathmandu airport for our mid-day flight via Doha with memories of this fantastic tour. Arriving back into Manchester mid evening. (B)

Important Information

REGENT WALKING:
Trekking will be at a comfortable pace along well worn paths. Although this trek is gentle by Himalayan standards, you will need to be prepared to negotiate steep inclines at certain points during the trip. Travel will be between mountain lodges. Short breaks can be taken and you can look forward to usually arrive at your lodge in time for lunch, although please bear in mind the pace may vary depending on the abilities of the group.

ALTITUDE:
Altitudes vary and while most walks will be between 1060 and 1680 metres, the highest altitude you reach will be around 2000 metres. Altitude sickness can affect all fitness levels and the group ascend gradually to assist acclimatisation.

HEALTH & MOBILITY:
You must consult your local GP or health professional prior to travel for the latest health and medical advice. This tour is not suitable for passengers with mobility issues. Regent must be informed of all special requests at the time of booking, including health, mobility, flight and dietary requests, and if personal ability or health declines over the booking period. Requests will be noted but cannot be guaranteed.

LOCAL CUISINE:
Nepali cuisine involves mainly vegetable-based dishes, often with meat mixed in. Few will be solely meat-based. Restaurants do cater to the western palate, so there will be plenty of non-spiced food options. Nepali cuisine is based around ingredients grown locally in mountainous areas, with typical dishes incorporating different spices and seasoning, so please keep an open mind and be adventurous!

VISA INFORMATION:
Visas are required for entry to Nepal. These are not included in the tour cost and will be at additional expense of approx. £25pp. You will also require 2 additional passport sized photographs for your entrance permit to the Annapurna Conservation Area.
