Regent River Cruise Tour Itinerary
Beautiful sights and idyllic Christmas markets wait to greet you along the Rhine and Moselle rivers during the festive season. Enjoy the magic of Christmas in Strasbourg, the capital of Alsace. Discover Cochem in the Moselle Valley, sprinkled with a thousand twinkling lights.
Day 1 – Arrive Amsterdam, Embark Ship
Fly from the UK to Amsterdam, where you will be met and transferred to your river ship. Before your Welcome Reception with the Cruise Director and fellow passengers, perhaps visit the Ice Village Christmas Market and enjoy traditional Dutch festive treats while exploring its seasonal stalls.
Day 2 – Amsterdam, Netherlands
Amsterdam’s picturesque 17th-century canals, lined with historic houses and charming bridges, have earned it the title ‘Venice of the North’. Enjoy a glass-top canal cruise with a local guide, followed by free time to explore. This evening, bid farewell to Amsterdam and enjoy a special Captain’s Welcome Dinner on board.
Day 3 – Cologne, Germany
Having entered Germany, arrive in Cologne and disembark for a guided tour of the magnificent Cologne Cathedral, famous for its twin spires. Learn about the history of this iconic landmark, which took over 600 years to complete, before enjoying time to appreciate its remarkable Gothic architecture and riverside setting.
Day 4 – Cochem, Germany
Explore Cochem’s narrow lanes lined with half-timbered houses and visit magnificent Cochem Castle, perched above the scenic Moselle River. Resembling a fairytale setting, the town is especially charming during the festive season, when its Christmas market and beautifully decorated streets create a magical atmosphere.
Day 5 – Rüdesheim, Germany
Cruise through the spectacular Rhine Gorge, widely regarded as the river’s most scenic stretch. In Rüdesheim, ride the Winzerexpress mini train and visit Siegfried’s Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum. Explore the charming Christmas market in the Old Town and browse festive decorations and gifts at the famous Käthe Wohlfahrt Christmas store.
Day 6 – Strasbourg, France
Arrive in Strasbourg, the charming Alsatian city on the border of France and Germany. Enjoy a guided tour of its picturesque historic centre before visiting the Christkindelsmärik, the oldest Christmas market in France. Explore more than 300 chalet-style stalls and admire the towering Christmas tree at the heart of the city.
Day 7 – Breisach, Germany
Disembark in Breisach and explore the beautiful Black Forest region. Enjoy a scenic coach journey through Kaiserstuhl and Karlsplatz to the Freiburg Christmas Markets, where you’ll enjoy a gingerbread tasting. Later, return to your river ship and celebrate your voyage with a sumptuous Farewell Dinner on board.
Day 8 – Disembark Ship, Depart Briesach
After breakfast on board, disembark and be transferred to Basel airport for your return flight to the UK
