Regent Tour Itinerary
Discover Malaysia’s rich history, encounter Borneo’s incredible wildlife, and experience the unique charm of Singapore on this unforgettable journey!
Day 1 – UK to Penang, Malaysia
A morning transfer to London Heathrow for our flight to Penang, arriving the next day.
Day 2 – Penang, Malaysia
Arriving in the afternoon, we transfer to our hotel on Batu Ferringhi Beach and enjoy free time to relax. No visit to the Far East is complete without sampling Malaysian cuisine, including the famous satay, turmeric-marinated meat skewers grilled over charcoal and served with peanut sauce.
Day 3 – George Town, Malaysia
This morning, enjoy a walking tour of George Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with over 30,000 pre-war buildings. Visit Fort Cornwallis and the Blue Mansion, then explore by cycle trishaw. An included lunch follows before a free afternoon. In the evening, visit the nearby night market. (B,L)
Day 4 – Pengang Hill, Malaysia
Board the Penang Hill Funicular Railway and ascend to Penang Hill, 833 metres above sea level, via the world’s steepest tunnel track. Explore historic colonial buildings, enjoy panoramic views of George Town and the Penang Bridges, then savour an included lunch before a free afternoon. (B,L)
Day 5 – Butterworth, Malaysia
Crossing the eight-mile Penang Bridge to Butterworth, we travel to Taiping for a tour featuring a traditional charcoal factory in Kuala Sepetang and the Perak Museum, Malaysia’s oldest. There is also an optional stop at Aun Tong Coffee Mill before continuing to Ipoh for an evening at leisure. (B,L)
Day 6 – Ipoh, Malaysia
After breakfast, explore Ipoh, where colonial architecture and traditional kedai kopi reflect the city’s tin mining heritage. See landmarks including St Michael’s Institution, the Railway Station and Sam Poh Tong cave temple before continuing through the limestone hills of Gunung Rapat to Kuala Lumpur. (B)
Day 7 – Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
This morning, explore Kuala Lumpur, a city blending modern skyscrapers with colonial heritage. Highlights include the Petronas Twin Towers, Istana Negara, the National Mosque, war memorials, the old Railway Station, Cricket Club and Federal Court. Later, enjoy free time, perhaps visiting the impressive Batu Caves. (B)
Day 8 – Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Enjoy a free day exploring Kuala Lumpur at leisure, visiting landmarks such as the Sultan Abdul Samad Building or Railway Station. This evening, discover Kampung Baru, browse Chow Kit Market, enjoy Hi-Tea in a local home, and visit the mosque and Tatt Khalsa Diwan Gurdwara Sikh Temple. (B)
Day 9 – Sandakan, Borneo, Malaysia
Today, we fly to Sandakan for a two-night stay. Founded in 1879 by the British North Borneo Company, this historic port town lies on Borneo, the world’s third-largest island. Enjoy an orientation tour, including the Sandakan Memorial, while discovering the region’s rich wildlife and colonial heritage. (B)
Day 10 – Sandakan, Borneo, Malaysia
This morning, visit two renowned conservation centres. Discover the Bornean Sun Bear Centre, dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating the world’s smallest bear, then the Sepilok Orangutan Centre, a sanctuary for orphaned and injured orangutans. After lunch, visit the Agnes Keith House, celebrating life in North Borneo before, during and after WWII. (B,L)
Day 11 – Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia
This morning, we fly to Kota Kinabalu on Borneo’s western coast and transfer to our luxurious hotel for a two-night stay. En route, visit the Mari Mari Cultural Village, a living museum showcasing local heritage. After an included lunch at the hotel, enjoy a relaxing afternoon at leisure. (B,L)
Day 12 – Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia
Today is at leisure. Perhaps enjoy the large sandy beach or the swimming pool at the hotel. (B)
Day 13 – Singapore
This morning, we bid farewell to Borneo and fly to Singapore for a two-night stay in the Garden City. Enjoy free time to explore around Clarke Quay or visit Gardens by the Bay (book/pay locally), a spectacular 101-hectare attraction featuring diverse plant displays and the iconic Supertree structures. (B)
Day 14 – Singapore
This morning, enjoy a half-day tour of Singapore, exploring its rich heritage and cultural diversity. See the colonial district, Merlion fountain, Thian Hock Keng Temple, Chinatown, Little India and the Botanical Gardens. Afterwards, enjoy free time to discover more of the city at your leisure. (B)
Day 15 – Singapore to UK
Today, we transfer to the airport for our overnight flight back to the UK. (B)
Day 16 – London
Arrive back into London Heathrow with memories of a fantastic tour of history, cultural and wildlife.
